Senior Accountant

A growing real estate platform is seeking a Senior Accountant to support both corporate and property-level accounting operations across a multi-entity portfolio. This individual will take ownership of complex accounting functions including month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, intercompany accounting, payroll accounting, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close processes across corporate and property entities, ensuring deadlines and reporting standards are met
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including KPI reporting and detailed budget-versus-actual commentary
- Perform multi-entity accounting, including intercompany allocations and reconciliations
- Oversee cash management activities, petty cash, expense controls, and company-wide accounts payable batches
- Review and approve expenses prior to payment release, ensuring proper checks and balances across accounting workflows
- Support budgeting, financial planning, cost accounting, and management decision-making
- Oversee payroll accounting, including payroll journal entries, account reconciliations, and cost allocations
- Support accounting activities related to property acquisitions, including onboarding and checklist coordination
- Assist with financial closeout and offboarding activities related to property dispositions
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures across accounting functions
- Identify opportunities to improve financial visibility, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Mentor internal accounting staff and offshore accounting resources
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, documentation standards, and sensitive information security
- Support annual financial reviews, year-end close processes, and reporting for executive leadership and CPA partners
- Manage annual 1099 and 1098 filing processes
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate, property management, or a multi-entity environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Experience with intercompany accounting, cash management, payroll accounting, and accounts payable oversight
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working within accounting and financial reporting systems
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience mentoring or managing accounting team members and/or offshore resources preferred
- CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required
