A growing national commercial real estate valuation and advisory firm is seeking a Managing Director to lead and expand its Atlanta and Southeast practice. This is a highly visible, entrepreneurial leadership opportunity for an experienced valuation professional who can grow client relationships, recruit and develop a high-performing team, and oversee complex commercial real estate valuation assignments. The Managing Director will have significant influence over the growth and direction of the market while benefiting from the resources, technology, and expertise of a national platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the growth of the Atlanta valuation practice and expand market share throughout Georgia and select Southeast markets.
- Develop and execute business development strategies focused on new client acquisition and expansion of existing relationships.
- Build and maintain relationships with banks, debt funds, institutional investors, developers, attorneys, government agencies, and other users of valuation services.
- Serve as a visible leader within the Atlanta and regional commercial real estate communities.
- Recruit, onboard, mentor, and retain experienced appraisers and emerging valuation professionals.
- Build and lead a high-performing team with a strong culture of collaboration, accountability, responsiveness, and professional development.
- Maintain responsibility for key client relationships and serve as a senior advisor on complex valuation matters.
- Oversee commercial real estate appraisal and consulting assignments across multiple property types.
- Ensure valuation reports and analyses comply with USPAP, client requirements, and firm standards.
- Establish and track revenue, business development, recruiting, and operational goals.
- Collaborate with national practice leaders and relationship managers to pursue opportunities and serve clients across markets.
- Contribute to firmwide initiatives related to technology, recruiting, professional development, strategic planning, and operational improvement.
Requirements:
- 7–12+ years of relevant commercial real estate valuation experience preferred.
- Active Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license required.
- MAI designation strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success originating new business, expanding client relationships, and driving revenue growth.
- Proven ability to recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing professionals.
- Strong knowledge of the Atlanta and Georgia commercial real estate markets; broader Southeast experience preferred.
- Established relationships within the commercial real estate, lending, investment, legal, and/or development communities.
- Experience completing and overseeing complex commercial real estate valuation assignments across multiple property types.
- Thorough understanding of USPAP, appraisal methodology, and institutional client requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance business development, quality, profitability, and team growth.
