Director of Asset Management and Finance

A family office with a diverse set of real estate holdings is looking for a Director of Asset Management and Finance. With a 30-year track record of successful projects in the Western US, their portfolio includes many asset types, with a focus on office, land, retail and multifamily properties. They are a lean team of professionals working collaboratively with third-party property managers and other partners.

The company is looking for a self-starting real estate professional with 5 or more years of asset management experience. This job is for someone with a “can do” attitude who is capable of wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced and nimble office. The Director of Asset Management would be involved in all aspects of an asset’s lifecycle, including initial underwriting, due diligence, financing, leasing, operations and sale.

Responsibilities

  • Asset Management
    • Oversight of property operations, leasing and capital deployment in order to maximize returns
    • Monitor and evaluate financial operating results to enhance cash flow and profitability
    • Serve as the Owner Representative, developing solutions to operational issues on a day-to-day basis, and effectively communicating high-level issues
    • Evaluate overall performance to assist in strategic business planning
    • Work collaboratively with property management to identify challenges and execute timely and effective solutions
    • Oversee renovation execution, including initial planning, working with general contractor on delivery timelines, and monitoring impact on leasing, rental rates, etc.
    • Analyze and assist with the negotiation of prospective leases
  • Acquisitions/Dispositions
    • Play and integral role in asset level acquisitions, financings and dispositions
    • Prepare cash flow models in Excel and Argus to perform hold/sell analysis on existing real estate investments
    • Monitor and analyze specified market conditions

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct asset management experience, including non-multifamily commercial assets
  • Familiarity with Yardi, Argus, and Excel
  • Overall flexibility. Given the small size of the company this individual will be involved in duties beyond their job description.
