A premier real estate firm is seeking a Senior Director of Project Management to lead large-scale development, redevelopment, and capital projects across a high-quality multifamily portfolio. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategy, execution, and team performance across complex, high-impact initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience overseeing major commercial projects, strong leadership capability, and the ability to operate at both a strategic and execution level.

Responsiblities:

Project Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead end-to-end execution of large-scale development, redevelopment, and capital projects
  • Establish project vision, timelines, and execution strategy aligned with investment objectives
  • Oversee multiple high-value projects simultaneously across the portfolio

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor project management team members, driving performance and professional growth
  • Establish best practices, processes, and standards across the function
  • Provide oversight and guidance on complex project challenges

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Oversee project budgets, forecasting, and financial performance
  • Ensure alignment with underwriting assumptions and investment returns
  • Review and approve major project decisions, contracts, and expenditures

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with development, asset management, and executive leadership
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Present project updates, risks, and performance to senior leadership

Vendor & Consultant Management

  • Oversee selection and management of architects, contractors, and consultants
  • Negotiate major contracts and ensure successful delivery of services
  • Maintain accountability across all external partners

Risk Management & Execution Excellence

  • Identify and mitigate project risks across schedule, budget, and design
  • Ensure all projects meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and operational efficiency

Requirements:

  • 12–15+ years of project management or development experience within commercial real estate
  • Proven track record managing large-scale, complex projects
  • Strong leadership experience overseeing teams and cross-functional initiatives
  • Deep expertise in budgeting, construction, and project execution
  • Excellent communication and executive-level presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications a plus

Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and forecasts
  • Track costs, review change orders, and ensure financial accountability throughout lifecycle
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project integrity

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Select, manage, and oversee general contractors, vendors, and consultants
  • Review bids, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Monitor construction progress and resolve issues in real time

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with asset management, property management, and leasing teams to align project goals
  • Communicate updates to internal stakeholders and leadership
  • Support tenant coordination and minimize operational disruption

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure all work meets regulatory, safety, and company standards
  • Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies

Requirements:

  • 5–10+ years of construction or project management experience within commercial real estate
  • Experience managing renovations, TIs, and capital improvement projects
  • Strong budgeting, scheduling, and vendor management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in an active portfolio environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred
