A privately held commercial real estate investment and development firm is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial strategy and operations of a diversified real estate platform. This executive will partner directly with ownership to lead accounting, capital markets, acquisitions, development, and asset management initiatives while helping guide the firm’s long-term growth strategy.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an entrepreneurial finance executive who enjoys operating both strategically and hands-on across all aspects of a commercial real estate investment business.
Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Corporate Strategy
- Oversee all financial operations, accounting functions, financial reporting, treasury management, and cash flow planning across multiple entities
- Lead internal accounting operations while coordinating with outside accounting firms, auditors, and tax advisors
- Develop and enhance financial reporting systems, internal controls, and company-wide accounting processes
- Partner directly with ownership on strategic planning, financial analysis, and company growth initiatives
Capital Markets & Financing
- Lead debt placement and financing efforts for acquisitions, development projects, refinancings, and permanent loans
- Manage relationships with lenders, banks, equity partners, and other capital providers
- Structure construction financing, joint venture equity, and capitalization strategies across the portfolio
- Evaluate financing alternatives and advise ownership on capital structure decisions
Acquisitions, Development & Investment Analysis
- Lead underwriting and financial analysis for acquisition and development opportunities
- Develop sophisticated financial models utilizing Excel and Argus
- Evaluate investment returns, financing scenarios, lease assumptions, and disposition strategies
- Support acquisitions, leasing, asset management, and development teams through financial analysis and strategic decision-making
Asset Management & Portfolio Oversight
- Oversee financial performance across the company’s operating portfolio and development pipeline
- Partner with property management and asset management teams on budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and operational performance
- Monitor leasing activity, capital expenditures, refinancing opportunities, and disposition strategies
- Provide financial reporting and portfolio analysis to ownership to support investment decisions
Requirements:
- 10+ years of commercial real estate finance, accounting, investment, development, or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field; CPA preferred
- Extensive experience with acquisitions, development, construction financing, and asset management
- Advanced financial modeling skills with proficiency in Excel and Argus
- Experience with real estate accounting systems and property management platforms
- Proven ability to lead financial strategy while partnering directly with ownership in an entrepreneurial environment
- Industrial and/or commercial real estate experience and experience managing multiple entities preferred
