DL Council Member Spotlight
Julia Turpit
What do you do?
I have my own consulting business. My largest client is Building Careers, LLC. I work closely with Building Careers providing recruiting and executive search services for the commercial real estate industry. I also work directly with commercial real estate professionals who are looking to make a career move and help them write or revitalize their resumes and cover letters.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
I get to work with and help people. I love talking with people and finding out what motivates them, what they are passionate about, where they find success and what their professional and personal goals are. From there, I love guiding them to a company, position and team that will support those goals and bring out the best versions of them. Seeing a perfect match between a company and employee, where both parties are not only bringing value to one another, but are genuinely thriving, is the ultimate win.
What is your involvement in NAIOP this year?
This year I have been honored to serve on the Developing Leaders Council, alongside some of the brightest and most hardworking, not to mention inspiring, up and comers in the industry. I was Co-Chair on the NAIOPalooza committee and am proud to say the event raised a record high of $13k this year to support GenerateHope, a non-profit that supports survivors of sex-trafficking.
What is a goal for 2016/2017?
My goal for 2016/2017 is to continue to learn something new about commercial real estate and business every day. As long as you’re learning and being challenged, you’re growing. I would also like to get my real estate license.
If you won mega millions, what would you do with it?
If I won a mega millions I would buy a house in my hometown, Coronado, invest in too many pairs of shoes, give to our heroic military families and children in need, and save!
On the weekends what is your typical MO?
I like to get in a morning run along the bay or a pilates class and spend time with family and friends eating, drinking and laughing.
What is your desert island dish?
Sushi. And peanut butter cups from Trader Joes.
